The Present

W.A.L.T:  Write a narrative

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….

  • The title is suitable for the text.
  • The orientation tells who the story is about, and when and where the story happened.
  • The complication describes a problem and explains what happened next.
  • The resolution explains how the problem was solved.
  • Seeks feedback and makes changes to texts to improve clarity and meaning.

In Ako Ngatahi we had to write a narrative about a video. It was about a boy opening a present that was a dog with three legs. Here is the video of the present. I hope you enjoy my story.

Screenshot 2017-03-07 at 8.00.45 PM.pngI was playing xbox 360 and my Mum came in with a box, she put it in front of me and then she walked away. She opened the blinds, the sun shone on the tv it was annoying. Then she said “Open the present.” Then she walked into the kitchen. I started thinking about what was in the box. I thought it might be a xbox one. When I grabbed the box I felt something moving. I opened it, inside there was a small, light brown happy puppy. Oh my gosh he was so cute. I picked up the puppy and it licked me. But then I realised it only had three legs!  I put it on the ground, it came to me again. I said “Go away.” Then it ran and slammed into the cupboard because he was trying to get a red ball from under it. It pick up the ball  and hit me with it. I kicked the ball into the box that the dog came in. He kept falling over. He tried to get into the box but as he hit it the box flipped, the ball came out. When the box stopped moving the puppy looked for the ball, it had gone beside the box. He found the ball and put it in his mouth. He walked to me but the ball dropped out of his mouth. He pick up the ball and made it to me. I was amazed at how he kept on trying. The puppy sat down with the ball in front of it. I picked up the ball and put it in my `pocket.I grabbed my crutches and headed for the door. And I only have one leg too. The excited puppy bounced around and met me at the door. As I opened the door the puppy pushed it so I could fit through. I called to Mum, “We’ll be outside.”
